I live and work in the Denver area which sits on the traditional lands of the peoples of the Tsistsistas (Cheyenne), Hinono’ei (Arapaho), and Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) tribes. I acknowledge the painful history of colonization and genocide in our area and the resilience of the native families who make up an important part of our community today.

I believe it is important to state this land acknowledgment because while I grew up in this area, I never learned the true history of those who were here before me and still lay claim to this land.
